Music Bio/2008

Dimitri's unique blend of classical, flamenco, country picking and blues styles has gained him recognition among his peers and guitar afficionados as one of the most unique virtuosos in the world.  This hybrid approach to his performances also translates into his compositional style which can be described as, "world fusion."  National and international competitions have embraced Dimitri's style and stage command as well, awarding him top prizes for his compositions and performances.

At the age of seven, Dimitri started lessons with a friend of the family.  By the time he reached his eleventh birthday, he had already given his first paid, solo guitar concert. In 1990 he received a music scholarship to Stetson University in DeLand, Florida where he studied with Dr. Steven Robinson.  In 1994, Dimitri matriculated to Florida State University where he studied with Bruce Holzman and received his master's degree.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 1997, Dimitri has concertized as a soloist and ensemble performer in various settings.  One night he might be on stage as a soloist at a classical guitar festival, the next night the lead guitarist in a blues, country, or reggae/funk band.  He has four solo guitar CD's, which reflect his love for the different styles of music from around the world. His original composition, "Tango en Paraiso" is published in the repertoire book by Mel Bay, entitled, "Anthology of New Classic Guitar Solos, Vol. 1" and is in the soundtrack of the comedy  movie, "Remarkable Power", in which Dimitri also co-stars with Tom Arnold and Kevin Nealon.
